<abstract><title>Abstract</title>
Science of__ampersandsignnbsp;Ayurvedais based on__ampersandsignnbsp;tridosha__ampersandsignnbsp;theory.__ampersandsignnbsp;Pitta, one among three__ampersandsignnbsp;doshasplays a major role in digestion and metabolism.__ampersandsignnbsp;Pitta doshais of five types namely__ampersandsignnbsp;pachaka, ranjaka, alochaka, bhrajaka, and sadhaka pitta.__ampersandsignnbsp;Pachaka pittais__ampersandsignnbsp;responsible for digestion of food,__ampersandsignnbsp;Vibhajan__ampersandsignnbsp;ofSara__ampersandsignnbsp;andKittaand it nourishes the__ampersandsignnbsp;Agneyapart of__ampersandsignnbsp;Pittalocated in different parts of body.It is also termed as__ampersandsignnbsp;jatharagni. Thisagniform__ampersandsignnbsp;Pittahelps in digestion of food, and afterwards separates the__ampersandsignnbsp;Sara__ampersandsignnbsp;andKitta bhaga. Being in its location it nourishes and provide strength to rest__ampersandsignnbsp;Pitta.__ampersandsignnbsp;Pachaka Pittais responsible for__ampersandsignnbsp;Aahar Pachanand this is well proved in our text. On the other hand, modern or the contemporary science after so many studies proves this that various digestive juices are responsible for digestion of food. As the functions of__ampersandsignnbsp;pachaka pittasuggest, all enzymes responsible for digestion like amylolytic, proteolytic and lipolytic enzymes, may be compared with__ampersandsignnbsp;pachaka pitta.__ampersandsignnbsp;Few works have been mentioned on conceptual features of__ampersandsignnbsp;pitta. In this article correlation of the physiological activity of__ampersandsignnbsp;pachaka pitta__ampersandsignnbsp;with modern medical science has been stated. For this study, the basic materials have been collected from the__ampersandsignnbsp;Ayurvedic__ampersandsignnbsp;classics with the available commentaries, as well as Text books of modern medical science better understanding of the concept and its comparison with contemporary science.
