<title>Abstract</title>
Introduction:__ampersandsignnbsp;Justicia betonica__ampersandsignnbsp;Linn. is an important medicinal plant__ampersandsignnbsp;__ampersandsignnbsp;belonging to family__ampersandsignnbsp;Acanthaceae. It is used for remedy for__ampersandsignnbsp;__ampersandsignnbsp;various fevers, stomach paindiarrhoea, inflammation and swelling. It has external wound healing and ulcer healing property. The plant possess many therapeutic uses such as__ampersandsignnbsp;__ampersandsignnbsp;analgesic, anti-inflammatory, anti malarial and anti microbial properties.__ampersandsignnbsp;Objectives: The present work has been designed to describe the Pharmacognostic characters__ampersandsignnbsp;__ampersandsignnbsp;of the leaves, stem, and root of__ampersandsignnbsp;Justicia betonica__ampersandsignnbsp;Linn.Materials and methods:__ampersandsignnbsp;Macroscopic, microscopic evaluation of__ampersandsignnbsp;__ampersandsignnbsp;the stem, root and leaves of__ampersandsignnbsp;Justicia betonica__ampersandsignnbsp;Linn.and powder analysis,__ampersandsignnbsp;__ampersandsignnbsp;fluorescence standards of the leaf__ampersandsignnbsp;__ampersandsignnbsp;of__ampersandsignnbsp;__ampersandsignnbsp;Justicia betonica__ampersandsignnbsp;Linn.were carried out. Results : Histological features__ampersandsignnbsp;__ampersandsignnbsp;revealed the characteristics of a typical dicot plant. The leaves had reticulate__ampersandsignnbsp;__ampersandsignnbsp;venation__ampersandsignnbsp;with prominent midrib, polygonal areoles, low palisade ratio and__ampersandsignnbsp;__ampersandsignnbsp;diacytic stomata. Two projections of collenchymatous tissue on the adaxial surface beneath the epidermis and__ampersandsignnbsp;__ampersandsignnbsp;compactly arranged palisade__ampersandsignnbsp;__ampersandsignnbsp;with plenty of chloroplasts are also typical features__ampersandsignnbsp;__ampersandsignnbsp;found in leaf. Typical__ampersandsignnbsp;__ampersandsignnbsp;chlorenchymatous__ampersandsignnbsp;__ampersandsignnbsp;cell pattern, conspicuous uniseriate or__ampersandsignnbsp;__ampersandsignnbsp;biseriate medullary rays and prominent xylem are the main characteristics of stem.__ampersandsignnbsp;Root has thickwalled xylem parenchyma and uniseriate or biseriate medullary rays. Conclusion: The findings of__ampersandsignnbsp;Macroscopic, microscopic, powder analysis, pharmacognostical standards__ampersandsignnbsp;__ampersandsignnbsp;and fluorescence analysis of leaf__ampersandsignnbsp;__ampersandsignnbsp;of this study discussed here can be considered as identifying parameters to substantiate and authenticate the plant__ampersandsignnbsp;__ampersandsignnbsp;Justicia betonica__ampersandsignnbsp;Linn.
