<abstract><title>Abstract</title>
Rasa- the fluid of life; The quantity of__ampersandsignnbsp;rasadhatu__ampersandsignnbsp;depends upon food intake.__ampersandsignnbsp;Rasa__ampersandsignnbsp;provides fluidity to circulating__ampersandsignnbsp;rakta; it is the fluid that carries dissolved nutrients. Salts and sugar are the most important among nutrients. As a result, taking nutritional fluid is the best way to replenish__ampersandsignnbsp;rasa. The__ampersandsignnbsp;rasadhatu, being made up of the element water, has similar qualities with__ampersandsignnbsp;kapha.__ampersandsignnbsp;Rasa dhatu__ampersandsignnbsp;has qualities very similar to__ampersandsignnbsp;kapha dosha, which is made up of__ampersandsignnbsp;jala__ampersandsignnbsp;and__ampersandsignnbsp;prithvi. In the formation of the__ampersandsignnbsp;dhatus, kapha__ampersandsignnbsp;is the__ampersandsignnbsp;mala__ampersandsignnbsp;(waste product) produced during formation of__ampersandsignnbsp;rasadhatu. Some of the most common and important problems arise when a person becomes__ampersandsignnbsp;sthool__ampersandsignnbsp;or__ampersandsignnbsp;krish,__ampersandsignnbsp;it is due to the__ampersandsignnbsp;rasa dhatu__ampersandsignnbsp;as well.__ampersandsignnbsp;Sthaulya__ampersandsignnbsp;and__ampersandsignnbsp;karshya__ampersandsignnbsp;in itself is due to many other diseases or we can say these diseases are the combination of many other diseases.__ampersandsignnbsp;The quality of the__ampersandsignnbsp;rasa dhatu__ampersandsignnbsp;is dependent upon the health of__ampersandsignnbsp;agni,__ampersandsignnbsp;or digestive fire. Food and liquid are initially digested in the gastro intestinal tract and, turned into__ampersandsignnbsp;ahara rasa. This fluid then further undergo metabolism by the__ampersandsignnbsp;rasagni__ampersandsignnbsp;to formrasa dhatu.__ampersandsignnbsp;The condition of__ampersandsignnbsp;agni__ampersandsignnbsp;determines the quality of__ampersandsignnbsp;rasa__ampersandsignnbsp;produced. When the__ampersandsignnbsp;rasagni__ampersandsignnbsp;is sluggish, the efficiency of transformation is reduced. When the__ampersandsignnbsp;rasagni__ampersandsignnbsp;is too active, it efficiently converts__ampersandsignnbsp;ahara__ampersandsignnbsp;rasa__ampersandsignnbsp;to__ampersandsignnbsp;rasa dhatu, but also burns up some of the__ampersandsignnbsp;rasadhatu__ampersandsignnbsp;that is being produced.__ampersandsignnbsp;There is a highly variable fluid intake that must be carefully matched by equal output of water from the body to prevent body fluid volumes from increasing or decreasing. In this article we are intended to make a correlation of__ampersandsignnbsp;rasa dhatu__ampersandsignnbsp;with modern prospective to have a clearer view about the__ampersandsignnbsp;rasa dhatu. For which the basic materials have been collected from the__ampersandsignnbsp;Ayurvedic__ampersandsignnbsp;classics with the available commentaries, as well as text books of contemporary modern medical science have been referred for better understanding of the concept and its comparison with contemporary science.
