<title>Abstract</title>
Polycythemia vera is common of Chronic Myeloproliferative neoplasms, resulting in Pancytosis. In Ayurveda it can be correlated with Raktavriddhi due to beejadushti. This case report describes the management of a 54-year-old male patient with polycythemia vera using Ayurvedic medicines and Virechan therapy. The patient exhibited typical polycythemia vera symptoms such as headache, dizziness and fatigue, along with high hemoglobin levels, RBC mass, WBCs and platelets showed increase in number. After a thorough Ayurvedic evaluation, sanshodhan and shaman chikitsa were planned for the patient. Virechana (method of therapeutic purgation) was employed to aid detoxification and restore dosha balance. Follow-up assessments showed marked improvements in the patient’s symptoms and a significant reduction in WBCs and platelets count. This case underscores the potential effectiveness of Ayurvedic treatments for managing polycythemia vera, suggesting that Virechan could be a valuable complementary therapy alongside conventional approaches.
