<title>Abstract</title>
Introduction: Khalitya (hair fall) is a common tridoshaja disorder, primarily involving aggravated Pitta and Vata doshas, significantly affecting self-esteem. Ayurvedic classics describe Khalitya under Shirogata Roga and recommend medicated oils for its management. Jeemutabhringadi Taila (JBT), from Sahasrayogam, combines ingredients like Jeemutak, Bhringraj, and Nili Swarasa for hair health. To meet modern preferences, Jeemutabhringadi hair lotion was formulated, retaining the therapeutic essence of JBT with added convenience. Methods: A randomized, open-label, comparative clinical study was conducted on 40 patients aged 18–40 years with Khalitya. Group A received JBT, while Group B used the lotion form, applied topically every night for 30 days. Subjective parameters (hair fall, dryness, itching, burning, sweating, and split ends) and objective tests (hair pull, hairline measurement, and 60-second hair fall) were recorded at baseline, 15th, and 30th day. Statistical analysis included paired/unpaired t-tests and Wilcoxon tests. Results: Both groups showed significant improvement, with JBT outperforming the lotion in reducing hair fall and associated symptoms. Conclusion: JBT demonstrated superior efficacy in managing Khalitya, supporting its traditional use. The lotion form offers a convenient alternative, albeit with slightly reduced efficacy. Further studies are recommended to confirm long-term benefits.
