<abstract><title>Abstract</title>
The Siddha system of medicine is a traditional holistic healthcare system widely practised for managing various diseases. Vellulli Parpam (VP) is a classical siddha formulation used for Gunman (Peptic ulcer), Soolai (Pain), and Peruvayuru (Ascites). Aim: To evaluate and standardise the Siddha herb-mineral formulation, Vellulli Parpam. The increasing use of traditional medicines necessitates scientific validation and standardisation to ensure their quality and safety. Methods: Physicochemical and instrumental analyses (Heavy metal analysis, HPTLC) were performed as per PLIM Guidelines. Results: Physico-chemical analysis of VP showed that the loss on drying was 11.50 %, Total Ash value was 6.49 %, and Water soluble ash was 3.71 %. The pH of the VP was 6.51. HPTLC fingerprint profiling of VP revealed the presence of sixteen components at 254nm and ten phytocomponents at 520nm. Heavy metal analysis confirmed the absence of detectable heavy metal residues in this formulation. Conclusion: The findings of this study indicate that Vellulli Parpam meets standard quality and safety parameters and contains significant bioactive constituents that may contribute to its therapeutic efficacy.
