<abstract><title>Abstract</title>
Centella asiatica (L.) Urb., traditionally known as Mandukaparni, is a well-known Medhya Rasayana dravya mentioned by Acharya Charaka, used for its cognitive-enhancing (Nootropic) properties. However, the neuroprotective activity of its primary bioactive triterpenesâAsiaticoside, Madecassoside and asiatic acidâis often hindered by poor aqueous solubility and limited permeability across the Blood-Brain Barrier (BBB).?This review explores the integration of principles of Ayurvedic Pharmacology with Nanotechnology, specifically focusing on how green-synthesised liposomes can enhance the Bioavailability of Centella asiatica extracts to nervous tissue.? A comprehensive literature survey was conducted across databases including PubMed, ScienceDirect, and AYUSH Research Portal (2015â2025). The search focused on Classical references of the drug as well as Liposomes, Nano liposomes, Green liposomal synthesis, and Pharmacokinetic models of BBB bypassing. ? Modern research indicates that green nano-liposomes, synthesised using eco-friendly lipids and plant-based surfactants, act as âYogavahiâ agents. These nanocarriers utilize âreceptor-mediated transcytosisâ to cross the BBB, significantly increasing the concentration of asiaticoside in the hippocampal region. From an Ayurvedic perspective, this drug delivery resembles the Sukshma (subtle) and Tikshna (penetrating) Gunas, as well as Ashukari (fast), which are essential to achieve therapeutic concentrations in the Central Nervous System. We analyse how this targeted delivery modulates neuro-inflammatory pathways (NF-__ampersandsignkappa;B, MAPK) and neurotransmitter levels, thereby validating the traditional Medhya Karma. ? The integration of Dravyaguna Vigyana with green nanotechnology offers a potent framework for developing high-efficacy neuroprotective agents. This review highlights that green nano-liposomes not only improve the bioavailability of Centella asiatica but also provide a scientifically measurable basis for traditional Ayurvedic pharmacodynamics.
