Abstract: Haridra is a drug which serves as both Ahara and Aushadha. It is widely used in clinical practice in various formulations in different pathological conditions. Haridra Arka is mentioned in Arka Prakasha written by Ravana. In this paper, the constituents of Haridra Arka are analyzed to find out its therapeutic domain which would be favorable to the current clinical scenario. The methods are Haridra Arka was tested using HPTLC and Gas chromatography. Six major components were identified with the predominance of Eucalyptol. The parameters obtained in the physicochemical analysis may be used as identifying tools for the quality assessment of Haridra Arka.
