Abstract: Ayurveda is an ancient science which deals with the promotion of health and prevention of diseases. There are eight facets of Ayurveda, among which Agadatantra is a specialized branch that is concerned with various types of poisons and their management. Agadatantra offers a novel concept of Dushi Visha, which has its relevance in this contemporary era in consideration of the occupational hazards. This review aims to explore the parallels between the concept of Dushi Visha mentioned in Samhitas and the chronic health issues arising from long-term exposure to hazardous conditions at the workplace. A literature review from Ayurveda Samhitas and their commentaries was done. Existing research available through search engines and databases on the occupational hazards in relation to the adverse conditions at the workplace was thoroughly explored. This review highlights the significance of Dushi Visha and its relevance to occupational hazards in the contemporary era. By acknowledging the modern manifestations and concept of Dushi Visha, the well-being of workers can be better protected and the long-term consequences associated with chronic occupational exposures could be managed through Dushi Visha Chikitsa. Thus, by incorporating the principles of Agadatantra alongside the modern scientific approaches, a healthy sustainable environment reducing the overall burden of occupational diseases can be created.
