Abstract: Lavana (salt) has been an integral part of everyday life in all aspects in the Indian culture. It is important to maintain many physiological functions in the body. The permeability of salt through membranes and its ability to reach minute vessels has made it an important ingredient in many Ayurvedic formulations. Hence, an attempt has been made to explore the use of lavana varga dravyas used in Agada yogas especially mentioned in Jagama Visha. About 10 classical texts were screened and all Agada yogas containing lavana were collected. These were then categorised and tabulated. About 67 Agada yogas contain lavana were obtained, which indicates its importance in the formulations used for the treatment of poisons. Thus, this study not only explores the use of lavana dravyas in Jangama Visha but also provides leads for further study on the pharmacological action and importance of salt in these agadas.
