Abstract: Traditional Ayurvedic therapies like Marma Chikitsa, Viddha Karma, and Agnikarma are gaining recognition for their holistic approach to pain relief and healing. Each therapy offers a unique way to support the body’s natural functions and restore balance. Agnikarma involves the careful application of heat to specific areas to reduce pain and improve movement. Marma Chikitsa works by stimulating vital energy points (Marmas) to regulate the flow of Prana (life force) and support internal balance. Viddha Karma uses fine puncturing techniques at selected sites to relieve pain and encourage healing. These time-honoured modalities are thoroughly detailed in classical Samhitas Agnikarma and Marma Chikitsa in the Sushruta Samhita, Viddha Karma in the Brihatrayi and Laghutrayi. Marma Chikitsa which elaborates on the connection of Marma to internal organs, Doshas, and Srotas (body channels). Therapeutic methods such as Abhyanga (oil massage), Mardana (deep tissue massage or pressing), and Lepa (herbal paste application), along with Viddha Karma and Agnikarma, help activate Marmas, remove blockages from Strotas, and enhance the normal functioning of the body. Together, they offer a well-rounded system of care that promotes both physical and mental well-being. This review aims to highlight the principles, therapeutic effects, and relevance of these Ayurvedic treatments in today’s healthcare landscape.
