Abstract: Soymida febrifuga Roxb. A. Juss. is a tall deciduous tree growing up to 20-25 m in height, available in the Asian subcontinent, including India, Sri Lanka, and Myanmar. In India, it is mainly distributed in the hilly areas of northwestern, central, and southern India. Many ethnobotanical uses are reported, including antimicrobial action, wound healing, and bone injuries. Mainly, the stem bark and leaves are used in folklore practices. The plant includes various bioactive compounds like methyl angolensate and luteolin-7-O-glucoside, which are responsible for the diverse pharmacological activities. This literature review provides an in-depth examination of the historical context, controversy, ethnomedical applications, pharmacognosy, phytoconstituents, pharmacological actions, and biological activities of Soymida febrifuga.
